You will be aware that your son \/daughter received their first Interim Report for S5 on Friday 3rd<\/sup> November. <\/p>\n I would expect that you have taken some time to discuss with your son \/daughter their progress so far in S5 and to highlight with your son \/daughter any issues\/ concerns that they should address.<\/p>\n Well Done to the majority of pupils who are working diligently and their interim report reflects their excellent efforts so far.<\/p>\n Teaching staff are continuing to provide excellent learning opportunities for pupils in all curricular areas at Higher, National 4 and 5 levels. I would like to point out that there are further resources on GLOW<\/strong> for every subject that pupils can access for extra revision.<\/p>\n It is essential at this point that pupils should be spending 2-3 hours each night on revision and study<\/strong> over and above their homework commitments. This will allow pupils to consolidate their skills and course knowledge .<\/p>\n Study techniques<\/strong> and resources can also be found on the school website to refresh pupil skills in note taking and mind mapping.<\/p>\n Scholar<\/strong> which provides high quality interactive learning materials on line can be accessed for the following Higher courses;<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em>Accounts, Art & Design, Biology, Business Management, Chemistry, Computing, English, French, Maths, Physics, Spanish<\/p>\n National 5 English and Maths resources are also available on Scholar.<\/p>\n Independent evaluation of SCHOLAR has shown that pupils who use SCHOLAR most often do better in their SQA exams. Class teachers can provide pupils with their scholar login details.<\/p>\n Supported Study<\/strong> Sessions are on offer for Higher & National 5 Maths ; see dates below and Higher & National 5 Chemistry ; every Wednesday,<\/p>\n National 5 Maths Supported Study;<\/strong><\/p>\n Higher Maths Supported Study;<\/strong><\/p>\n Many teachers have set up Yammer <\/strong>accounts with their classes to facilitate home learning and this has proven to be very popular and successful in allowing pupils to seek advice and feedback on homework tasks.<\/p>\n Extra staffing<\/strong> has been allocated to numerous departments to target pupils who may require further support and to offer pupils smaller group learning experiences.<\/p>\n\n
