{"id":17605,"date":"2017-11-10T16:19:08","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T15:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/?p=17605"},"modified":"2017-11-10T16:22:48","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T15:22:48","slug":"s5-parental-letter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/s5-parental-letter\/","title":{"rendered":"S5 Parental Letter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parent\/Guardian<\/p>\n<p>You will be aware that your son \/daughter received their first Interim Report for S5 on Friday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> November. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I would expect that you have taken some time to discuss with your son \/daughter their progress so far in S5 and to highlight with your son \/daughter any issues\/ concerns that they should address.<\/p>\n<p>Well Done to the majority of pupils who are working diligently and their interim report reflects their excellent efforts so far.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching staff are continuing to provide excellent learning opportunities for pupils in all curricular areas at Higher, National 4 and 5 levels. I would like to point out that there are further resources on <strong>GLOW<\/strong> for every subject that pupils can access for extra revision.<\/p>\n<p>It is essential at this point that pupils should be spending 2-3 hours each night on <strong>revision and study<\/strong> over and above their homework commitments. This will allow pupils to consolidate their skills and course knowledge .<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study techniques<\/strong> and resources can also be found on the school website to refresh pupil skills in note taking and mind mapping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholar<\/strong> which provides high quality interactive learning materials on line can be accessed for the following Higher courses;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>Accounts, Art &amp; Design, Biology, Business Management, Chemistry, Computing, English, French, Maths, Physics, Spanish<\/p>\n<p>National 5 English and Maths resources are also available on Scholar.<\/p>\n<p>Independent evaluation of SCHOLAR has shown that pupils who use SCHOLAR most often do better in their SQA exams.
