It was an outstanding success and pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Each class were taken to the Games Hall where they were given a headset and taken on a &#8220;virtual fieldtrip&#8221;. The software\u00a0allows a teacher acting as a \u201cguide\u201d to lead classroom-sized groups of \u201cexplorers\u201d through collections of 360\u00b0 and 3D images while pointing out interesting sights along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils were taken on guided tours of the Great Wall of China, The Great Barrier Reef, the Taj Mahal and many more.<\/p>\n<p>The groups were led by staff who were given a tablet computer containing the software with the options of the places to visit.\u00a0Staff were then able to point out relevant landmarks and facts to the pupils who viewed a 360\u00b0 image. One particular area of interest for our S2 pupils was an image of &#8216;The Trenches&#8217;. This is an area currently being studied in the S2 History course and the experience provided them with an incredible insight into the environment in a real trench.<\/p>\n<p>The event was a huge success and gave us a glimpse into the future of the classroom learning experience.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All S1-4 pupils have participated in a &#8216;Google Expeditions&#8217; event over the past couple weeks.
