Mental Health

Schools have an important role in promoting mental health amongst children and young people, and much of this is about creating the right environment for them to learn and thrive.  When young people were asked what made them feel good, a common response was “doing well in school”.

Children with mental health problems don’t need something different from other children; they need more of the same, because they have generally had less of it in their lives up to now.

Fact
More than half of all adults with mental health problems were diagnosed in childhood.  Less than half were treated appropriately at the time.

If you want to speak to someone, or feel troubled, please remember that there are people available in school to help today.
