Future Me Parental Involvement Campaign from Read, Write, Count.

‘Future Me’ aims to support families to start a conversation with their P1-3 children about their hopes and aspirations, which will ultimately help to improve their lives in the future. It asks families to share those dreams, either as a picture, letter or film on the ‘Future Me’ wall at www.futureme.scot. The campaign builds on existing Scottish Government efforts to tackle educational inequalities and raise attainment in early years and beyond. With increasing time pressures on families, Read, Write, Count highlights easy activities built around everyday things families are already doing. Whether it’s going to the shops, travelling to school or at mealtimes, Read, Write, Count offers parents and carers simple ideas that will help children do their best at school.

Girl Guide World Thinking Day

brownies

22nd February marks World Thinking Day.  This is the day on which members of Girlguiding celebrate the global impact of our organisation and think about our ‘sisters’ around the world.

In Barrhead we have 2 Rainbow units (ages 5-7years), 4 Brownie units (age 7-10years), 3 Guide units (age 10-14years) and 2 Senior Section Units (aged 14+).  This equates to about 180 girls.

It is traditional that on Thinking Day, the girls wear their Rainbow, Brownie or Guide uniform to school. St Mark’s welcomes all Rainbows, Brownies and Guides to wear their uniform that day.
