Additional Support Needs

Many pupils will require additional support during their time at school. This could be from a few months to long term for a number of years, or for the whole of their education. The Additional Support Needs Coordinator works very closely with staff providing advice and guidance to make sure the child’s needs are being fully met and to ensure that suitable resources and methods are used. Full consultation with parents means that if a pupil requires help from other agencies e.g. Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapist or Speech and Language therapy this can be put in place.

If a child needs extra support permission is sought from parents/carers to discuss the child’s needs at a Joint Support Team meeting to discuss how best we can work together to support their needs. The aim is to spot any potential difficulties and work with parents and pupils to support their needs as fully as possible.
