Scottish National Standardised Assessment (SNSA)

Scottish National Standardised Assessment (SNSA)

In August 2017 the Scottish Government introduced the Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA) as part of the National Improvement Framework.

The SNSA will be undertaken by all children in P1, P4, P7 and S3 and assess aspects of reading, writing and numeracy. As set out in the national guidance the main purpose of the assessments is to provide information for teachers on how well children are doing in literacy and numeracy and to help guide learning and teaching.

All P1, P4, P7 and S3 pupils will take the assessments during the six weeks directly following the school holidays in April.

Further information for parents is available on the SNSA website through the link below:

Celebration of the Sacraments – Reminder

Dear Parent/Guardia

Please note that the Mass of Enrolment will take place on Sunday 11th March in St. Cadoc’s Church during 10 and 12 o’clock Mass. All children intending to receive the Sacraments this year should participate in this ceremony and should sit with their parents.

The Sacrament of First Reconciliation will be celebrated in St. Cadoc’s Church on Monday 12th March at 7pm. The children will sit together as a group and will receive individual Confession and absolution during the service. It would be helpful if you could practise the attached First Reconciliation Format with your child as this will help them become more confident.

At both of the above ceremonies, the children are asked to wear their school uniform.

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be administered during 10 o’clock Mass for Primary 4a on the12th May, 4b on the 28th April, 4c on the 19th May and 4d on the 2nd June 2017.

The Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated in St. Cadoc’s Church at 7pm on the evening of Monday 11th June.

Thank you for your continued support during this very special time.

Yours sincerely,

Tracey Rogers

Depute Head Teacher

Snow Day Activities

All East Renfrewshire Schools and nurseries will be closed again today, this is due to the severe weather that we are experiencing at the moment. We will continue to update parents and carers with any other significant events regarding the weather.
In addition to completing ongoing homework set for this week, children may use the snow day resources available on the St. Cadoc’s website. Effective learning can be experienced from exploring outdoors and using this very unusual weather as a stimulus could prove worthwhile. We would encourage all of our children to experience the outdoors but only if it is safe to do so and we are looking forward to hearing about snow adventures when we return to school.
We will rearrange World Book Day on our return to school, but please encourage your children to continue to find the opportunity to read and write, whether it is simply retelling a story about the effects of the snow outside from a window, or being engrossed in a favourite book.
We look forward to welcoming you back once the weather is back to normal, and urge you to stay safe.
