S3 Space Poster Competition
Deadline for entries for the competition is Monday 8th May. Your entry should be in the form of a A4 or A3 poster, detailing a recent discovery or news item regarding Space. The form the poster takes is up to you, news report, song, screen play etc. Make it stand out.
The 3 wining pupils will go to the ISSET NASA Mission Discovery event for 2017, hosted at University of West of Scotland in Paisley between 5 June and 9 June 2017.
The International Space School Education Trust will provide you with the opportunity to not only meet and engage with NASA scientists and engineers, but will also allow them to gain knowledge of, and develop skills in areas such as:
NASA leadership, team building and personal development skills
- About biomedical research
- How space exploration benefits life on earth
- What the space environment feels like (from those who know)
- About scientific research, experiments and innovation – on earth and in space
The astronaut in attendance this year will be Steve Swanson who has logged 643 hours in space and completed 4 spacewalks – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Swanson The other NASA engineers who will be in attendance are yet to be confirmed. There will also be open events which may be of interest to you and all pupils; last year’s event included a showing of ‘The Last Man on the Moon’, a documentary of Eugene Cernan and was followed by a live Q&A with him from Florida.
