It assesses the candidate\u2019s ability to integrate skills\u00a0and apply knowledge and understanding from across the course.<\/p>\n<p>The portfolio is designed to allow candidates to demonstrate their ability to work\u00a0independently and is sufficiently open and flexible to allow personalisation and choice in the\u00a0activities selected.<\/p>\n<p>This portfolio is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">set by SQA<\/span><\/li>\n<li>conducted under controlled conditions<\/li>\n<li>submitted to SQA for external marking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The portfolio has a total of 60 marks. <strong>This is 50% of the overall marks for the course\u00a0assessment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course assessment structure: performance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Performance 60 marks<\/strong><br \/>\nThe purpose of this component is to assess the candidate\u2019s ability to effectively perform in\u00a0two different physical activities.<br \/>\nEach performance is a single event in a challenging, competitive and\/or demanding context.<br \/>\nThis gives candidates an opportunity to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and\u00a0understanding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a repertoire of skills \u2014 including complex skills<\/li>\n<li>control and fluency<\/li>\n<li>effective decision-making<\/li>\n<li>using and applying straightforward composition, tactics or role \u00a0safely and effectively<\/li>\n<li>conforming to rules, regulations and etiquette<\/li>\n<li>controlling emotions<\/li>\n<li>working co-operatively with others\n<p><span style=\"line-height: inherit\">The performance has a total of 60 marks. <\/span><strong style=\"line-height: inherit\">This is 50% of the overall marks for the course\u00a0assessment<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: inherit\">.
