Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NPA (National Progression Award) Sports Development was developed to support candidates wishing to\u00a0pursue Sports Development as a possible career path. The competences achieved
\nwill allow candidates to make other career decisions and follow different pathways.
\nThe National Progression Award is designed to equip candidates with the skills,\u00a0knowledge and understanding required for progression to further academic and\/or\u00a0professional qualifications.<\/p>\n

The award will provide:
\n– A choice of vocational pathways to be followed
\n– Flexible approaches within a national framework
\n– The opportunity to preserve and build upon existing good practice
\n– The opportunity to investigate current trends and theories
\n– Compatibility with feeder qualifications, in particular Skills for \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Work (SfW)
\n– Sport and Recreation at SCQF level 4 and 5 together with the \u00a0 \u00a0NQGA Sport and\u00a0Fitness level 5
\n– Articulation with HN provision in Sports Coaching with \u00a0Development of Sport\u00a0at HNC and HND levels
\n– Articulation with SVQ in Sports Development at SVQ level
\n– A focus on the working practices being demanded by the industry<\/p>\n

General information for candidates
\n<\/strong>
\nNational Progression award is designed to improve your skills and knowledge in the\u00a0Sport and Fitness Industries. They are designed to allow progression to the\u00a0HNC\/HND programmes in:
\n– Sport Coaching with Sports Development
\n– Sport and Recreation Management
\n– Other SQA awards and SVQs are also real possibilities<\/p>\n

The NPA Sports Development award has two Units. Both Units will need to be\u00a0completed to achieve the NPA.
\nThe Units will be carried out in a sports environment and assessments will reflect\u00a0the nature and the knowledge that will relate to sports development.
\nThe Units will involve team working but ALL candidates will need to play a full\u00a0part as it will be your own work and contribution which will be assessed.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>
\nThe NPA has two Units. Both must be completed to obtain the Group Award.

Sports: Activity and Participation\u00a0Opportunities in the Community
\n(Higher)<\/p>\n

Sports: Investigate Activity\u00a0Development Opportunities in an
