The competences achieved<br \/>\nwill allow candidates to make other career decisions and follow different pathways.<br \/>\nThe National Progression Award is designed to equip candidates with the skills,\u00a0knowledge and understanding required for progression to further academic and\/or\u00a0professional qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>The award will provide:<br \/>\n&#8211; A choice of vocational pathways to be followed<br \/>\n&#8211; Flexible approaches within a national framework<br \/>\n&#8211; The opportunity to preserve and build upon existing good practice<br \/>\n&#8211; The opportunity to investigate current trends and theories<br \/>\n&#8211; Compatibility with feeder qualifications, in particular Skills for \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Work (SfW)<br \/>\n&#8211; Sport and Recreation at SCQF level 4 and 5 together with the \u00a0 \u00a0NQGA Sport and\u00a0Fitness level 5<br \/>\n&#8211; Articulation with HN provision in Sports Coaching with \u00a0Development of Sport\u00a0at HNC and HND levels<br \/>\n&#8211; Articulation with SVQ in Sports Development at SVQ level<br \/>\n&#8211; A focus on the working practices being demanded by the industry<\/p>\n<p><strong>General information for candidates<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nNational Progression award is designed to improve your skills and knowledge in the\u00a0Sport and Fitness Industries. They are designed to allow progression to the\u00a0HNC\/HND programmes in:<br \/>\n&#8211; Sport Coaching with Sports Development<br \/>\n&#8211; Sport and Recreation Management<br \/>\n&#8211; Other SQA awards and SVQs are also real possibilities<\/p>\n<p>The NPA Sports Development award has two Units. Both Units will need to be\u00a0completed to achieve the NPA.<br \/>\nThe Units will be carried out in a sports environment and assessments will reflect\u00a0the nature and the knowledge that will relate to sports development.<br \/>\nThe Units will involve team working but ALL candidates will need to play a full\u00a0part as it will be your own work and contribution which will be assessed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe NPA has two Units.
