Medical Application Asssitance
Obtaining the grades required for medical school is phenomenally difficult and a huge achievement in itself. And yet it is just the first step in the long, demanding process of becoming a medic. Though the academic requirements are tough, the second step can also cause students a significant degree of concern: the application process, including the interview.
For many, what is particularly concerning here is the fear of the unknown. Application interviews, unlike exams, do not offer mocks, and very rarely are there second chances, making it difficult for the students to predict what to expect on the day of the interview. For this reason, Gap Medics have created a blog for students who aspire to enter the medical profession, containing information and advice on the interview stage of the application process. The blog includes articles such as Six questions you can expect to be asked at your medical school interviews, and Five key things to avoid in your medical school interview, among many others.
Furthermore, if students are interested in acquiring some work experience in a hospital to add to their repertoire, Gap Medics offers students (aged 16 and over) the opportunity to see what the world of medicine is really like in different countries. Students will shadow experienced doctors and healthcare professionals in busy hospitals, learning about the day-to-day life of a doctor and everything it entails. The various departments in which students can choose to work include: general surgery, paediatrics, orthopaedics, obstetrics and internal medicine and many more.
