Here in History and Modern Studies we promote a positive and respectful learning environment in which all young people can reach their full potential.

History

History allows young people to explore the times that shaped our world as well as challenging their skills and abilities. Whether they are venturing back to the important ‘Free at Last?’ topic about the Civil Rights movement in the USA, or looking at the impact that the ‘Rise of the Nazis’ had on our world, History allows young people to explore these significant times as well as continually developing their academic and enquiry skills.

Modern Studies

Modern Studies helps to create an understanding of how the world works today. It is a subject unique to the Scottish secondary school curriculum. The focus is to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of contemporary political and social issues in local, Scottish, United Kingdom and international contexts as well as developing skills that will help them in life and academically.

We aim to involve students, parents and the wider community in promoting opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
