National 5 and Higher Migration Documentary

Adventurer and broadcaster Simon Reeve heads to beautiful and troubled Burma – or Myanmar as it is now officially called – for a new two-part series. Cut off for decades under military rule, the country now has a democratically elected government led by world-famous Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. But in August 2017, the world was left stunned when a brutal military operation drove hundreds of thousands of ethnic Rohingya Muslims from their homes.

S2 and N5 Population Documentary

A hundred years after the Russian Revolution, Simon Reeve embarks on the first leg of an extraordinary three-part journey across Russia.

Setting out amongst the active, snow-capped volcanoes of Kamchatka, over 4,000 miles from Moscow, Simon explores one of the remotest regions of the country. The population of Russia’s far east has fallen dramatically in recent years, but travelling by chopper and skidoo, Simon finds indigenous reindeer herders who are still eking out a fragile existence in this spectacular but inhospitable wilderness.

Advanced Higher Geography Trip

Our Advanced Higher pupils have just returned from a three day field trip to Kindrogan Field Studies Centre. As part of the Advanced Higher Geography course, pupils are required to gain experience in a variety of fieldwork techniques. This not only allows them to complete an essential component of a NAB but also provides them with the skills required to complete their coursework.

During the three day trip, pupils examined the characteristics of a river and soil profiles on a hillside. They also got a chance to map geomorphologic features in the glaciated area.  Pupils then spent their evenings back in the lab where they analysed their findings, ran statistical tests and worked on presenting their results and evaluations.

All pupils worked extremely hard during the (intensive) three days both in the field and in the lab.

Well done!
