Literacy and ICT

P6a used IPads and the book creator app to successfully create comic books based upon the  Apollo11 missions or using an imaginative space theme. They used practical resources as models and creatively positioned toys, Lego, play doh and drawings of their own creation to create a story board and act out their story. They used the IPads to photograph scenes, find images, research facts and record movies.

The children chose to work in groups using skills of co-operation, compromise and communication.

All finished books can be acccessed via a link posted on the class Google classroom site.

W/E 6th Sept 2019

Another week has come to an end in P6a. This week we were working on our mental maths skills participating in a “Number of the day” activity.

We received a lovely visit from Fr Joe and Priest in training; Joe, who shared his story of training to be a priest and living in Rome with the children.

We used Peer massage as part of our meditation and calming strategies.

The children stretched their brains and worked on creative strategies trying to solve active problem solving tasks.

The children were introduced to using Ipads and QR codes and will hopefully being expanding their knowledge of the functions of the Ipads over the coming term and learning what they can do with them to aid their learning.

P6a shared their knowledge with P2 when they buddied up for some paired reading. A wonderful experience was had by all.

This week in P6a we were researching and learning about the Space race and the lunar landing in 1969. This was used as inspiration for our writing, ICT and art lessons.

Unfortunately the weather on Friday wasn’t the best so we didn’t make it to the MUGA for PE but we improvised and worked on our fitness in the classroom with some energetic moves!
