We have been putting the finishing touches to our Black Lives Matter poems and have begun recording them so that we can share them with others. We have beeen thinking about the features of spoken word: especially the use of volume, emphasis and rhythm. We’re really passionate about what we’ve created and can’t wait for you to see them!
P7a have been working incredibly hard within a recent poetry unit of study. Excitingly, we are putting together a booklet of poems that the children each composed in response to what we had learned about Black Lives Matter. The photos attached show the various stages of writing and editing the poems went through before they were completed. The children showed such ambition and determination throughout. Definitely an example of Team P7a’s growth mindset to target set and take themselves out of their comfort zones!
We are now four weeks into our Basketball skills unit and the children have started to apply theeir passing and movement skills within some full court games. As well as our fitness, we are finding that the basketball games are really testing our resilience and growth mindset to problem solve tactics and conflicts on the court. The children are showing an amazing attitude! Keep it up, everyone!
We have been enjoying tackling Daily Rigour weekly challenges that require us to work together and problem solve in order to reach a solution. It’s great to apply our maths skills in context and to agree and disagree with each other’s methods respectfully. Brilliant attitude, boys and girls!
Achieving quick and accurate recall of Multiplication facts has been an ongoing focus for us. We are working towards a challenge set by Mr Hutcheson to be able to recite a Multiplication Table in ten seconds from start to finish….. And today? Don just about made it! 🙂 Remember to target set boys and girls. You’re capable of ANYTHING when you set your mind to it!
Today we had to persevere and show a growth mindset within our STEAM challenge. We had to work together to make a tower out of cups and lolly pop sticks. Aysha, Don, Brandon and Lucas constructed the highest tower and were our winners.
