Communion

On Saturday, Primary 4 celebrated their First Holy Communion surrounded by family and friends. It was a lovely occasion led by Father Paul.  The children arrived beautifully presented and excited to celebrate their special day. In the church the pupils took part in the Mass, listening attentively to the readings, Gospel and prayer and singing confidently. Some of the pupils older siblings confidently read their readings to a church- Well done to Alex, Jamie and Diana!  Our offertory was then brought to the Alter by Eve, Amy and Cara.

After the Mass, Primary 4 boys and girls went their separate ways to celebrate with their families.

On Thursday afternoon the children will celebrate their Sacrament together.

Thank you to all the parents and families who came to celebrate with us.

Communion

Communion

Tuesday 3rd May.

With just a few days to go until our First Holy Communion we were delighted to have the ladies involved in the Legion of Mary in for a visit. The ladies gave us all a communion gift each, a beautiful prayer book and a Miraculous Medal. They shared the story of the Miraculous Medal and how Mary had asked for it. They talked to us about our special day and prayed with us to Mary.  It was a lovely visit and the ladies were impressed with our beautiful singing.

Primary 4 will continue their busy week with a rehearsal on Wednesday with Father Paul(11-12.30), the Mass of Ascension on Thursday and French day on Friday. Plus as much hymn practise as we can squeeze in before their Communion on Saturday at 10am.

Week beginning – 7th March

There will be no literacy or maths homework due to the Reconciliation on Wednesday Evening and Parent’s Night on Thursday. Parent’s night appointments were sent home Friday 4th March.

The pupils preparing for their Sacrament of Reconciliation should be practising their Act of Sorrow and Confiteor regularly. They should also be discussing this Sacrament with their parents and considering the format of the Confession. Pupil practised this with Father Paul and Father Micheal today and this has been discussed regularly in class.

The Format for the Children

Make the Sign of the Cross

Say:     ‘Bless me Father for I have sinned. This is my First Confession.’

 Tell the Priest your sins.

Listen – while the Priest tells you your penance and gives you absolution (Forgiveness).

Say an Act of Contrition (Sorrow).

Oh my God, because you are so good,

I am very sorry that I have sinned against you

And I will try not to sin again.

Amen

Say – ‘Thank you, Father.’

Then go light a candle, kneel in front of Our Lady’s Altar and say your penance quietly. Once finished return to your seat, and remain quiet and attentive for the rest of the Service.

Please remember pupils should attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation in full school uniform. Pupils will sit together on the right hand side of the church.

January 2016

After a lovely winter break, we are ready for a busy term ahead. This term Primary 4 shall be preparing for their Sacrament of Reconciliation, which is a wonderful step in their Faith Journey. Over the next few weeks we will be visiting the Church and working closely with the Parish to guide our pupils through their individual preparations.

We will also begin covering various Science topics including Sound and making instruments to further develop our knowledge of how sound and pitch works.

Our Interdisciplinary topic this term is Vikings and pupils throughout Primary 4 have responded well to this topic so far. We will be looking at various aspects of Viking life and finding out about the Vikings in Scotland.

Thank you

Miss Mckay

Father Paul’s Visit

On Thursday Father Paul gave up his time to come and talk to us about the Sacrament of Baptism. He told us about the Baptism service. He showed us three special oils, there was one for the sacrament of the sick, one for Baptism and a Chrism oil also used for Baptism. He also talked about Holy water and how it symbolises your sins being washed away. He showed us the record of Baptism which the church keeps. At the end of the visit we got to smell one of the oils and it smelled like a perfume.

He came into school to talk to us as part of our Faith Journey in preparation for our Sacraments this year.
