Over the last few weeks Primary 7 have been planning and preparing a walk in which they discovered the history of Catholic Education around Barrhead. Building upon the BYOD policy pupils had the opportunities to use their own devices as well as the school resources to prepare for the walk. They used the St. Luke’s app ‘Anniversary Urban Walk Barrhead’ which was created by the St Luke’s cluster committee and Miss Mckay.
Pupils organised the walk for the families of St. Mark’s and even wrote a letter which we emailed to the Bishop. While the Bishop contacted Miss Mckay to apologise that he would be unable to make it, he was impressed by the enthusiasm of our pupils to share the history.
Pupils then planned a walk considering the route, distance and time constraints. On the day of the walk pupils enthusiastically talked about each location after ‘checking in’. They were a credit to the school.
Of course we finished our walk with a little hot chocolate to warm us up.
