Sports Leader Courses

Candidates on this course quickly get involved in planning and running sessions organised by themselves. They must also evaluate their own and peer groups sessions. The syllabus is designed to develop generic leadership skills, which can be applied to a variety of sporting activities as well as contributing to the candidate’s personal and social education.
The award is a practical qualification in which candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding mainly through physical competence rather than written work. The candidate’s ability as a competent leader must be assessed by observation and supported by written assessment.

Young Sports Leaders

This is a programme of leadership training for young people which focuses on specific skills such as instruction giving, organisation of people and equipment and the use of space.
Rather than breaking leadership down into its constituent parts, the Award teaches these topics through a practical, activity based, holistic approach. In this way Young Leaders’ learn by doing’ and by the end of the course will not only have the confidence and ability to lead others, but will also have knowledge and experience of an extensive range of games and activities.
