Girls Football Success!

St Luke’s girls football team hosted  a football tournament on Wednesday 24th, to all local East Renfrewshire schools. The girls were enthusiastic about the opportunity to play some of their rivals in previously fought matches.  Despite the challenging weather conditions all girls were high spirited and determined to do the jersey proud!

St Luke’s entered three teams, involving junior and senior pupils. The juniors won two of their four games, beating MearnsCastle twice with the seniors wining three of their games.

All girls did a fantastic job and were a credit to the school!!

S3 Scottish Cup!

On Tuesday 20th the S3 netballers competed in their follow up rounds of the Scottish Cup to Kilgraston Independent School in Perth!

The girls where in high spirits when they left on Tuesday and were anxious to get going! some mildly irritating singing helped Jim the girls ‘favourite’ driver make the long, yet scenic journey- (where there was no snow!!) to the venue.

The girls competed well and fought hard against the opposition which presented a challenging feat for the St Luke’s girls. However, true to their nature they didn’t give up and consistency was the ‘key’. With a depleted team the girls worked together to outwit and strong, tall Perth side, unfortunately Kilgraston still managed to come out on top.

All girls had a fantastic day out and were a credit to St Luke’s and the PE and Health Faculty! A special thanks to Jim the bus driver and apologies for any deafness that might have been caused 😉20150120_123137

Higher PE BBC Academy Trip

Hundreds of young people including St Lukes higher P.E. pupils, accompanied by Mr MacInnes, were  invited to take part in an inspirational sporting event in the week the BBC Sports Personality of the Year rolls into Glasgow.

Sports stars, including Commonwealth Games gold medallists Euan Burton, Charlie Flynn and Kimberley and Louise Renicks, hosted motivational question and answer sessions at The Active Academy at the city’s Emirates Arena.

Experts and coaches led taster sessions of sports and activities in the event, which took place from 10-12 December and was ran as part of the BBC’s UK-wide initiative Get Inspired, to encourage participation in sport.

It is being run in conjunction with Glasgow Life, who will provide Glasgow Sport staff and volunteers to help run the programme of activities planned by Get Inspired and BBC Scotland.

Using the venue’s athletics tracks, velodrome and one of the sports halls, the Academy will ran try-out sessions for a wide range of activities from football and rugby to street dance, boccia and wrestling.  The pupils had a fantastic time at the event and learnt some valuable skills! Including how to ride a bike properly!!!
