They will be escorted to their class to meet their class teacher and participate in class-based activities.<br \/>\nThey will return to their parents at 2.40pm.<br \/>\n<strong>Primary 1 First Day Arrangements\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday 13th August 2014<br \/>\n<\/strong>Due to the large number of children starting P1, it would be helpful if, on the first day, you brought your child to school at the following times:<br \/>\n9.15am\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 P1a, 1d and\u00a0 P1e<br \/>\n9. 35am\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 P1b and P1c<br \/>\nPlease note that parents only will be allowed into class on this first day.<br \/>\n<strong>The School Day<br \/>\n<\/strong>On subsequent days, your child will follow the normal school day as follows:<br \/>\nSchool begins \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 9.00am (informal entry from 8.50am)<br \/>\nMorning interval\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10.40am\u201410.55am<br \/>\nLunch break &#8211; 12.35pm\u20141.30pm<br \/>\nAfternoon interval\u00a0 &#8211; \u00a0 2.15pm\u20142.25pm (first few weeks)<br \/>\nSchool ends &#8211; \u00a0 3.10pm (pack up bell at 3.05pm)<br \/>\nChildren travelling by bus will be escorted to their bus by a teacher.\u00a0 If your child is walking home then please collect them at the Primary 1 entrance.<br \/>\n<strong>Uniform<br \/>\n<\/strong>All our pupils are encouraged to wear \u00a0school uniform:<br \/>\nBoys\u2014Grey sweatshirt\/jumper, blue shirt\/polo shirt, grey trousers<br \/>\nGirls\u2014Navy sweatshirt\/cardigan, blue shirt\/polo shirt, navy skirt\/pinafore<br \/>\nSchool tie, blazer\/navy school fleece or dark jacket<br \/>\nBlack shoes<br \/>\n<strong>P.E<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0At the beginning of P1 you will receive a memo with details of PE days.\u00a0 For PE your child should have: dark shorts, t-shirt and soft shoes (these can be kept in a shoe bag). \u00a0Your child will also have one outdoor PE session and so for this they would require trainers, dark jogging trousers and a warm top.<br \/>\n<strong>Please ensure your child\u2019s name is on EVERY piece of clothing, shoes, bag etc.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\nLunches\/Snacks<br \/>\n<\/strong>We advise that all P1 children should have a packed lunch for the first few weeks.\u00a0 As a Health Promoting School, we encourage parents to provide a healthy lunch, including a drink.<br \/>\nWhen ordering a hot lunch, East Renfrewshire Council operate a cashless lunch system.\u00a0 You will receive information regarding this on the pupils\u2019 Induction Day in June.\u00a0 Please go to www.eastrenfrewshire.gov\/uk.schoolmeals for more information.<br \/>\n<strong>IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT PEANUTS ARE NOT<br \/>\nALLOWED IN OUR SCHOOL AS WE HAVE CHILDREN WITH ALLERGIES.<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/>\nWhen your child comes to school they will learn many new things.\u00a0 It may help them to settle if they can do some of the following:-<\/p>\n<p>How to help your child prepare for Primary 1<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the toilet alone<\/li>\n<li>Change clothes for PE<\/li>\n<li>Manage buttons, zips etc.<\/li>\n<li>Share crayons, pencils etc.<\/li>\n<li>Recognise their \u00a0name\u00a0Listen to others<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Take turns in games<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Know days of the week, colours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Parental Concerns<br \/>\n<\/strong>From time to time you may have questions about some aspects of your child\u2019s schooling.\u00a0 If this is the case, simply phone the school and ask for an appointment either with the class teacher or with Mrs McGrotty DHT.\u00a0<br \/>\nIn addition there are 2 Parents\u2019 Nights during the year as well as a \u2018Meet the Teacher Day\u2019 and a Curriculum Afternoon.
