{"id":4377,"date":"2013-09-18T14:53:11","date_gmt":"2013-09-18T13:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/OurLadyMissions\/?p=4377"},"modified":"2013-09-19T12:42:45","modified_gmt":"2013-09-19T11:42:45","slug":"parent-council-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/OurLadyMissions\/2013\/09\/18\/parent-council-agm\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Council AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parent Forum Member,<\/p>\n<p>At The Annual General Meeting of the Parent Council last year there was a significant increase of new parents, this was extremely welcome and new members have made a very valuable contribution this session (thank you!)<\/p>\n<p>The constitution requires that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">all<\/span> prospective members <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">must<\/span> attend the AGM to nominate themselves. Existing members also need to re-join every year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The constitution suggests that if there are over 25 nominations, the head teacher is in a position to select &#8211; \u2018a group which fairly represents the composite of the school,\u2019 from the nominations.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst we hope this will not happen &#8211; as we would rather welcome everyone who wants to become involved, if numbers self-nominating exceed a viable working group of 25 parents \/ carers then the following procedure will follow with the aim of ensuring continuity and breadth of representation.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a proforma for self nomination available to be completed at the meeting with a small number of categories \/ areas of interest, directly related to you and your children who attend Our Lady of the Missions Primary School e.g.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you an existing member of more than two years standing?<\/li>\n<li>At which stages are your child (ren) at present?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a particular voice with regard to Additional Support Needs?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a particular interest\/experience with regard to English as an Additional Language?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a particular interest\/experience with regard to any other groups?\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The head teacher would then select from each category in a random manner ensuring that the new Parent Council for session 2013-14 fairly represents a cross section of the parent forum working on behalf of all 820 pupils.
