Welcome and Introductions<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Elaine Green, Convener for Education and Equalities, welcomed everyone to the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2. Mearns Castle HS &#8211; showcase<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Thomson, Principal Teacher of RME and Citizenship, gave an overview of the Citizenship programmes, with a specific focus on Equalities, for S1 \u2013 S6 at Mearns Castle HS.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">3. Draft Parental Involvement Strategy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Catherine Dillon Ruddy, Acting Quality Improvement Officer, outlined the education department\u2019s draft strategy with an opportunity for some discussion in small groups and feedback. Catherine will collate the feedback and incorporate it into the final document as appropriate.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">4. Resolve Independent Mediation service<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Sandra Mitchell, Mediation Manager, explained the role of the service and its partnership with a number of local authorities.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">5. Dealing with Racist Incidents \u2013 Advice for staff<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Maureen Sneddon, Quality Improvement Officer, circulated the advice cards for all education staff, prepared by the education department, on dealing with racist incidents. These have gone to all schools and pre 5 establishments for issue to all teaching and non teaching staff. Poster versions have also been issued to be displayed in prominent places.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">6. Draft Education Department Equalities Delivery Plan<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Maureen Sneddon, Quality Improvement Officer, outlined the background to, and key messages of, the draft Equalities Delivery Plan for the next 3 years, in line with new guidance from the EHRC and the Council\u2019s Single Outcome Agreement and the Local Improvement Plan.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">7.
