{"id":9593,"date":"2019-05-01T23:10:12","date_gmt":"2019-05-01T22:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/OurLadyMissions\/?page_id=9593"},"modified":"2021-11-22T16:03:13","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T15:03:13","slug":"severe-weather-arrangements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/OurLadyMissions\/the-school-day\/severe-weather-arrangements\/","title":{"rendered":"Severe Weather Arrangements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the event of severe weather conditions, Head Teachers are guided by the Education Department\u2019s Standard Circular 10b.\u00a0 Following an assessment of the situation, in consultation with relevant staff in the Education Department, a decision will be made on whether or not to close the school.\u00a0 If an emergency closure of the school is to be carried out, the following procedures will take place:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We will contact the transport providers to ensure that the school buses will be available.\u00a0 If they are not, then pupils will require to wait in school to be collected by parents.<\/li>\n<li>We will put information on the school\u2019s website\u00a0\u00a0and Twitter account (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OLM_Primary?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\">@OLM_Primary<\/a>) about the arrangements for the closure.\u00a0 There will also be up to date information on East Renfrewshire Council\u2019s Twitter page (<a class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-screennameLink u-linkComplex js-nav\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EastRenCouncil\">@<span class=\"u-linkComplex-target\">EastRenCouncil<\/span><\/a>).\u00a0 It is really important that, in the event of any severe weather, parents and carers make every effort to regularly monitor ERC\u2019s and the school\u2019s Twitter and websites.\u00a0 The website and Twitter will be regularly updated with any important information.<\/li>\n<li>We will also text parents and carers with information on the school closure and refer you to the school and council\u2019s websites and Twitter.<\/li>\n<li>At this point we will start to evacuate the school.<\/li>\n<li>Parents who arrive at school will be greeted at the main entrance by a member of staff who will then arrange for their child\/children to join them to be taken home.<\/li>\n<li>Children will remain in classes until a large number have been collected by parents.\u00a0 Once the numbers have reduced sufficiently, remaining children will be brought to the Mensa and supervised there.
