Primary 7 Visits

Primary 7 children from St Joseph’s, St Vincent and Holy Name Parish have just received the Sacrament of Confirmation. All three Masses were beautiful; the children were outstanding and should be commended for their behaviour and reverence during the services.

Confirmation Letters and Booklets

Confirmation  Letter –  Primary 7  Holy Name

The children from Holy Name parish will be confirmed on Sunday 24th April during the 12.15 Mass.  Rows will be reserved for the confirmandi, parents and sponsors.

Children should wear full school uniform.

Father Burke will have a meeting with parents at a date prior to Confirmation, more information will be published in the Church bulletin.

Confirmation Letter –  St. Mirin’s Cathedral  Thursday 21st April at 7pm

We are delighted that the children will be confirmed by Bishop John Keenan.

An information sheet for sponsors is attached. It will also be on the school website.

Please see below some practical arrangements for the Mass.

  • Children should wear full school uniform; shirt and tie, black shoes
  • Due to the numbers involved, there is a suggested maximum of 5 guests per family (including sponsor)
  • Children and sponsors will meet teachers in the Cathedral Hall by 6.30pm.
  • Parents should go directly to the Cathedral where seats have been allocated on a first come basis behind the children and sponsors.
  • The procession into the Cathedral will begin by 6.45pm, pairing child and sponsor within each school group
  • Children will be seated on right side (pulpit side); sponsors on left
  • There should be no filming or taking of photographs during Mass
  • The Cathedral car park will not be available for parking; there is limited open parking on the right hand side of Gartmore Lane and some on Paisley Road, while the nearest public parking is in the car park opposite the Lagoon Leisure Centre

Please find attached an information leaflet for your child’s sponsor. It will also be on the school website.

The children will be confirmed by Archbishop Tartaglia.

Please see below some practical arrangements for the Mass.

  • Children should wear full school uniform; shirt and tie, black shoes
  • Children and sponsors will meet teachers in the church by 6.45pm
  • Children will be seated on right side, sponsors on left (pulpit side). Seats will be labelled on both sides with the child’s name
  • Parents should go directly to the seats behind the children and sponsors which will be allocated on a first come basis
  • There should be no filming or taking of photographs during Mass. Your are welcome to take photographs afterwards

SCHOENSTATT RETREAT CENTRE – Monday 21st March 2016

First of all I would like to congratulate all of our Primary 7 pupils on their full participation and excellent behaviour in the Bibleworld exhibition. From sitting in an aeroplane to using a printing press, the activities were very informative and interactive!

On Monday, 21st March, we shall visit the Schoenstatt Retreat Centre in Campsie Glen. This will be an opportunity for all children and staff to take “time out” from our busy lives and reflect upon our relationships with those who are important to us. Further details about the centre can be found on their website.

This term is a very busy and exciting time for our Primary 7 pupils. We were so delighted with the children’s efforts before Christmas in their fundraising enterprises for our Advent charities. It has been straight back into work and preparations for High School and the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Primary 7 children will be taking part in the ‘Cluster Ceilidh’ in St Ninian’s High School on Thursday 14th January from 1pm-2.30pm. We shall have an early lunch from 11.55am – 12.50pm and then walk through Eastwood Park to St Ninian’s accompanied by members of staff. Full P.E. kit should be brought to school on the day and appropriate outdoor clothing for walking to/from St Ninian’s. They should also bring a bottle of water with them.
St Ninian’s Cluster Visit Arrangements
The pupils will visit 3 departments in St Ninians:-
Design & Technology, Science and Art & Design as part of the Cluster Working Partnership.
Each class will visit on four occasions offering them 12 teaching slots.
Dates:-
Primary 7a and 7b – 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th February 2016
Primary 7c and 7d – 3rd, 17th, 24th and 31st March 2016.

  • The pupils will attend classes periods 2, 3 and 4 so we shall walk through Eastwood Park to arrive in St Ninian’s by 9.30am and will depart at 12.20pm except for the last visit.
  • On the fourth visit pupils will stay in the school for lunch (there will be the opportunity for pupils to purchase a school meal for £2.00 however, if they prefer they may bring a packed lunch). After lunch they will be given a short presentation about starting High School and then a tour of the school, their visit will end in a spiritual service. They will depart for Primary School at 2.20pm.
  • We shall have a full day visit to St Ninian’s in the summer term, details to follow.
