P4 Sacramental Information Evening tonight (11th) at 7pm in St Joseph’s Church. Please come along to this information evening where Father Jim will explain and discuss various aspects of preparing and celebrating the Sacraments of Confession and Communion.
Primary 4 First Communion Mass of Thanksgiving 2015
The Mass of Thanksgiving will take place in St Joseph’s Church, Clarkston on Tuesday 2nd June at 7pm.
All Primary 4 pupils and their families are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they received the Sacrament or not. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to join together to give thanks for the very special and successful year that Primary 4 have enjoyed.
On the evening, children should sit with their families. We ask that P4 children sit at the end of the row to enable them to come up easily to receive their First Communion Certificate from Father Jim during the Mass. As this is an informal occasion, school uniform need not be worn.
We look forward to seeing you then.
As part of East Renfrewshire health promotion in schools we would like to ascertain interest in an after school gardening club. Continue reading P4 After School Gardening Club
During this term, Primary 4 and 5 will take part in ‘Learn a skill’ afternoons every Tuesday. Children have been allocated into mixed groups from across the four classes in their year group depending on which activity they selected. The options were:
P4- Origami, Cookery/baking, Technology, ICT/graphics/making a comic strip
P5- Model making, Zumba, Arts and crafts and Music making.
We were pleased to be able to offer most children either their first or second choice.
The purpose of these afternoons is to facilitate personalisation and choice and challenge and enjoyment – some of the key principles of Curriculum for Excellence. The sessions also allow children to build up relationships with their peers from other classes, as well staff, whilst developing a range of new skills! Feedback from the first P4 sessions has already been extremely positive and photographs from all groups will be posted here and on twitter over the coming weeks. We are confident that your children will find these sessions rewarding and enjoyable.

During the October holiday, further work was carried out to the Junior Department building.
This included: Painting and new carpets in P4 classroom and ICT suite, ramp fitted in lower corridor and ‘knock through’ for further ramp to be fitted from hall to main entrance.
This has meant that some pin boarding etc has been taken down in preparation for further work to take place over the coming months.
As you will have noticed, work on the link corridor is progressing well and we are looking forward to this reaching completion in the coming months.
We will keep you updated of any further developments/information.
Due to a problem at Eastwood Pool, Primary 4 swimming lessons will now start on September 23rd.

Children are settling well into our new Junior Department building! Just to clarify arrangements for collection of children at end of the day:
Parents/carers should inform children of where they shall be collected at the end of the school day. Staff will ask each individual child about these arrangements and take note of them.
If children are to be collected/meet siblings at the gate of the main building or in the main building playground then a member of staff will accompany these children down the steps at 3.10 each day, along with children going on buses.
There is no car parking or drop off facility at the Junior Department. All cars should use the main drop off zone, pavillion car park or overflow carpark. Obviously, where possible, we encourage children to walk to school.
Many thanks for your cooperation with this matter.
