We have had another settled but busy week in school and all Netherlee pupils continue to work very hard on their learning whilst also having lots of fun too. Our wonderful children continue to come to school each day with smiles on their faces and full of enthusiasm for what each day will bring. However, we are very aware that we are all continuing to live through some extremely difficult times right now so please do get in touch if you are concerned about anything or if you have anything that you feel we can help your child with in school. We are here, and myself or any member of staff will be very happy to help.
We are very much looking forward to our P7 House Captain videos and subsequent elections next week. The children involved have put a lot of hard work into recording and producing the videos and I can’t wait to see them. A huge thank you as well to each of the P7 teachers who, determined to make this happen for their children, have spent many hours uploading the videos onto our digital shared area so that we can involve the whole school in the voting process. Good luck to all who are taking part- I can’t wait to meet our House Captains for Session 2020-2021 and to working with you alongside Mrs Sweeney and Mrs Roberts.
Another huge and heartfelt thank you to Dorothy Buchanan and the PTA for providing all of the amazing activities and gifts for the children this week. They have had a super time both at school and at home with all of the art and crafts activities and amazing story telling. This has been another successful event which wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and creativity of our fantastic PTA.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Netherlee Primary School (& Nursery) Parent Council will take place on Thursday 12th November at 7pm as a Zoom video conference. Find out more here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/Netherlee/pc-agm-2020/.
All teachers are looking forward to their Parent Meeting Conversations with you over the coming fortnight. Thank you for your understanding over the need to conduct these via phone calls at this time. I am sure that you will find the information shared with you in relation to how your child is progressing in school useful, reassuring and helpful. Please remember that you can get in touch with us at any time if you have any questions or concerns about any aspect of your child’s learning or wellbeing in school or if you would like any further information following your conversation. Please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
Our “relaxed entry” approach to welcoming the children into school each morning continues to go extremely well. The children are enjoying being able to calmly come into school without having to line up and has resulted in all classes being settled and ready to begin their learning much more quickly. If you have a child who enters the school building via the Cage Door Area, can I please ask you to remind them not to stand inside the cage area if they arrive at school before 8.50am but instead, to wait in the playground until the bell rings and the doors are opened. This is to ensure the safety of the children and to avoid the area getting too busy. We have also spoken to the appropriate classes in school about this too. Thank you for reinforcing this at home.
Just a reminder that our online Scholastic Book Club, is now open and will run from today until 15th November. Visiting the Book Club online will enable parents and pupils to browse Scholastic books from home, and any books that are ordered will then be delivered free of charge to the school. Furthermore, all orders of £10 or more, will generate valuable proceeds for the school, which will be used, as they have been in the past, for greatly enhancing the range of literacy resources and variety of texts that are available to our pupils. To visit the Netherlee Book Club, click on the link – https://schools.scholastic.co.uk/netherlee-primar-sch/digital-book-club. We would like to thank you for your continued support with our Book Fairs.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
