SPORTS DAY CANCELLED

Due to our pitch being waterlogged, Sports Day has been cancelled for tomorrow – Friday 9th June.

We have rescheduled our Sports Day for Wednesday 14th June and will follow the same format as we have already communicated previously.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused by this change.

Sports Day

SPORTS DAY FRIDAY 9TH JUNE 2017

As per previous years our Sports Day will follow the same format.

9.15am – 10.30am            Potted Sports for P4 – P6

11.00am – 12.15pm         Potted Sports for P1 – P3

1.45pm – 3.00pm             Flat Races beginning with Family Centre then P1 – P7

Please note for flat races we will run all heats then all finals.

Can we request that pupils come to school in their house colours where possible as the Potted Sports take place in House groups.

Parents are welcome to attend both Potted Sports and Flat Races.

This year our SOS group will be selling refreshments during the flat races in the afternoon and hosting a raffle to raise money for the SOS group.  As you will know any money raised by the SOS group goes back into the school in order to help pay for school trips, discos, etc.

If the weather is against us our alternative date is Wed 14th June.

Remember there will be an opportunity to meet informally with the Senior Management Team at our coffee and chat that will take place in the Assembly hall over the course of sports day.

Funds for Summer Fayer Tombola

SOS Summer Fayre 17th June

The Support Our School Group are planning a Summer Fayre on Saturday 27th June from 10.00am-12.00noon in the school grounds.  We aim to have a large variety of fun stalls and activities and we really need your help!

We are looking for volunteers to help run and man stalls and people to help set up and clear away .  We also need donations of baking, tombola prizes and chocolate goodies for our chocolate tombola.

Money raised will all be used for the benefit of the school.

School Uniform Orders

We now have an online shop for pupils present and new to purchase school uniform.

We only hold a limited stock in the school and prepare a large order in May for the new school year.

All orders placed online prior to 24th May will be with the school prior to the end of term for uplift or during the August in-service days.

Newsletter

The latest newsletter is now available to view online.  As you will see, the newsletter has taken a different format this month.  We are now using Sway which allows our newsletter to have a much more interactive feel to it.  Sway can be viewed using any electronic device including phones and tablets.  A link has been sent to parents via email and text message however you can also access it using the link below.  As ever we welcome your feedback.

East Renfrewshire Council are asking all parents and carers to complete a short survey (takes around 10 minutes) about Neilston Primary.  These surveys provide the authority and its schools with evidence to inform their self evaluation process.

Glow Users can now download for free the Microsoft Office 2016 apps on up to 15 personal devices; up to 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets (Windows, iPad and Android) and 5 phones. 
‎Making the these apps available helps Glow users take full advantage of the opportunities these tools offer. The Office apps which include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote provide a learning platform that translates beyond school and into the world of work. 
To download the Office 2016 apps, log in to Glow and either click on the Download Office Now tile or go to the Office 365 Home tile and once in O365, click on “Install Office 2016” at the top right of the page.

Fun Day

Broadlie are the winning house and will be having the latest fun day tomorrow (Thursday).  Pupils can come in own clothes and bring in toys and games.  Please remember no electronic games consoles or phones are permitted.

There will be a variety of activities available including baking, ICT, Arts and Crafts and sports games.  Weather permitting, pupils will be allowed outside as well.

Gymnastics Club

Please note that the Gymnastics Club run by Miss McBride will be held on Thursday this week due to the Monday holiday.  Miss McBride is preparing the children fantastically as they polish their routine ready for Gymfest in May.

Please also note due to Monday 1st May being a holiday as well, the Gymnastics club that week will be held on Tuesday 2nd May.

Spring Holiday

Please remember school closes at 2.30pm today (Friday). It is also a dress as you please with all money raised going to Diabetes UK.

Over the 2 parent/carers evenings our p7 pupils have been gathering the views of our parents and carers.  So far we have gathered the views of 100 parents.  If you would like to complete our questionnaire then you will find the link below. Remember your view counts.

Fairtrade

There will also Fairtrade stall running during our Parent/Carer meetings this Wednesday and Thursday. Items available include pocket money toys, biscuits and chocolate. Items priced from 50p upwards. Pupils will also have an opportunity to buy goods during lunchtime – 1.10pm onwards.

Special Lunch Menu

WE have a special lunch menu on Wednesday 22nd March. Build A Sandwich. This is always a success with pupils. No requirement to pre- order. Details of what is available on the menu attached.  Menu

Fairtrade Break Wednesday 8th March

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight there will be a Fairtrade Break this Wednesday at interval.  There will be an opportunity to buy Fairtrade juice, fruit and biscuits from the dinner hall.  Please note there will be NO TUCK SHOP and pupils will have to bring money to buy  the goods.  Please join us as we raise awareness of Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight.
