Fairtrade Group

Who is on our  FairTrade Group?

Recently we held a 90kg Rice Challenge in the school.  We were trying to sell 90kilograms of rice in order to send a farmer’s child to school for 1 full year.  We worked with Just Trading Scotland to organise a drop off of all the 90 bags!

We had a stall at lunchtime for 2 weeks during Fairtrade Fortnight.  We used this stall to sell the rice at £3 a bag to pupils in the school.  We sold ALL 90 bags of rice!

Also during Fairtrade Fortnight we had a Fairtrade lunch in the school for the local councillors to attend.  Some of our Fairtrade Experts sat with the councillors and discussed Fairtrade and had some lunch.  Councillor Waters and Councillor O’Kane were very complimentary about our committee and our school as a whole.

By Liam Chambers, Katy MacLeod and Calum Macbeth.

Look out for fairtrade items on sale in school.

The Fairtrade committee will be selling Fairtrade good on behalf of the Rainbow Turtle shop in Paisley at the next Parent/Carer meetings on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th October.  Please come along to the stall and support Fairtrade.
