On Friday, 9th March, Mrs MacMahon’s S2 class took the competition by storm, winning three out of four categories and coming second in the fourth.
After two workshops with a Glasgow poet, the class had written individual poems and a class poem to perform at the Slam where performance is assessed as well as the quality of the poems. With a highly vocal support and the best banners in town, Mearns Castle took to the stage: James Daly came second in one of the individual categories and Eilidh Dawson- Bowman was first in the other; winners of the group category, our team comprised of Ross Gray, Finna Parkinson, Amy Bateman, Perle Picard and Charlotte Smith. The final success was being named the overall winners and being presented with the trophy!
Congratulations to the following athletes who took part in the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday:
S2 Holly Still
S2 Rebecca Gray
S3 Rebecca Saxby
S2 Ross Gray
S6 David Clarke
All athletes ran superbly well but special mention must go to Holly Still and Rebecca Saxby who came 5th and 8th respectively in the Girls’ Group C race. This also means that the girls have been selected to run for Scotland in the forthcoming Home International at Strathallan at the end of March. This is an outstanding achievement! Well Done!

Many thanks to those parents and friends who came along to support our first Sing-a-long-a night. After much food, drink and of course singing we have raised £200 towards the New Theatre Seating.
We will be organising another night next year and look forward to seeing you then
Many thanks
