Literacy & Numeracy

At Mearns Castle High School we are always keen to work in partnership with parents. We recognise that parents, carers and families can make a very positive difference to a child’s learning. Your support can play a vital role at all stages of your child’s education.

Across all subjects in the school we are helping pupils identify and highlight the transferable Literacy and Numeracy skills that they use every day in a variety of curricular contexts. As a child’s parent or carer you can support this work by helping your child continue to make these links in the world outside the school gates.

Below are a number of documents which we circulate in the school to help raise the profile of Literacy and Numeracy.  You will also find some documents which will help parents develop their child’s Literacy and Numeracy skills
