French Immersion Day

On Friday 22nd January over a hundred S5 and S6 pupils from Mearns Castle, Williamwood, Woodfarm, Barrhead, St Luke’s and St Ninian’s High Schools gathered at Mearns Castle to take part in a French Immersion Day with visiting teachers from the Alliance Française de Glasgow.

Pupils took part in four different workshop activities and developed their oral skills on a range of topics. The pupils heard and spoke only French in all of the workshops all day, and we were really impressed with their level of comprehension.

Some comments from the pupils:

‘It was fun to meet French people!’

‘I understood more French than I thought I could.’

‘I improved my French accent.’

‘I liked that it was mixed with other schools – allowed us to meet new people and learn French at the same time.’

We now look forward to the Spanish Immersion day coming up on 26th February.
