Royal Society of Chemistry Higher Prize- Haider Suleman

Congratulations to Haider Suleman who achieved the joint top score in the higher chemistry final examination in May. Haider achieved 100% in his final exam and this outstanding result was recognised at the Science and Parliament event in ‘Dynamic Earth’, Edinburgh. Haider was accompanied by his family to see him get his award. S6 Depute head Jim McKenna and PT Chemistry/Physics Michael McGarry were delighted to attend and join in the celebration. He was presented with the award by Dr Alasdair Allan MSP (Minister for Learning, Science and  Scotland’s Languages), Professor Lesley Yellowlees CBE FRSC FInstP FRSE (former president of the Royal Society of Chemistry), Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, DBE, FRS, PRSE FRAS (President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh).

East Renfrewshire Commonwealth Flagship Concert

Congratulations to all the Mearns Castle pupils who took part in the Instrumental Showcase concert in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Tuesday night.

A wonderful evening of great performances with a large representation from Mearns Castle.  A

Handball Club

Following the success of the handball ‘taster’ sessions in PE and learning the rules of the game in Modern Languages there will be a handball club for S1 pupils every Tuesday lunchtime in the Old Gym.

The club will start at 12.30pm so you will have time for lunch first and it will finish at approx. 1pm. S1 boys and girls are welcome to attend.
