Congratulations to Jamie Gemmell (S5) who has been selected, once again, to represent Scotland in the International Pentathlon match which is being held on Saturday 3rd December.

The match is taking place in the Kelvin Hall Sports Arena and is against school teams from England, Ireland and Wales.

This is a fantastic achievement and a reward for the dedication Jamie has shown to his sport.  Well Done!

Charities Week

Charities Week – starts on Monday 31st October.

Every year the pupils at Mearns Castle raise large amounts of money during this week by taking part in many different and imaginative activities.  Last year, almost £7000 was raised and subsequently disbursed among a number of charities, each chosen by the pupils themselves.

Huge congratulations to Iain Dunlop, Matthew Hill, Ben Matthews (ex-pupil), Connor Howe, Craig Lambie, Johny Davis, Josh Gray, Stephen Cochrane (ex-pupil) and Kevin Archer (ex-pupil) who have been selected as part of the U19 Scotland training squad for the 2012 Junior World Championships in Finland.

The full U19 training squad of 29 players will be cut to 23 before the tournament so these young men have a lot of hard work ahead of them and will be competing for a national cap. Good luck!

7 pupils from MCHS have been selected for the Lacrosse Scotland Under 21 Squad. Kevin Archer (S6), Stephen Cochrane (S6), Iain Dunlop (S5), Matthew Hill (S5), Connor Howe (S5), Benjamin Matthews (S6) and Jonathan Shaw (S5) will be competing in the British National Championships held on 29th April – 1st May in Wilmslow, Manchester.

This is a superb achievement and is due first and foremost to their efforts over the year while training and playing at club level. Well done boys.
