School starts again today for pupils at Mearns Castle High School. We hope you have all had a great summer holiday and are looking forward to the new term.
School starts, as usual, at 8:45.
And finally, a special welcome to out new S1 pupils who are joining the Mearns Castle family today.
Our new S1 pupils have been taking part in a Volleyball Camp these past three days.
Perhaps amongst them is a potential volleyball star who can go on an represent Great Britain in the 2020 Olympic Games?
Despite only winning one game in Pool A Lynne Beattie is upbeat about the whole Olympic experience for the GB ladies team.
“We competed at times but it wasn’t enough,” said Lynn.
“The main thing we can take is competing against the best teams in the world, that’s an experience in itself.”
The GB captain added: “The next step is taking sets and wins against these teams.”

Former Mearns Castle pupil Susan Egelstaff won one and lost one game in her Olympic debut at badminton.
Susan who is currently 38th in world rankings competed in Group H against Sayaka Sato of Japan and Maja Tvrdy of Slovenia. Susan beat Tvrdy 2-0 and lost to Sato 2-1.
Well done Susan!

Both Mr Dick (S6) and Miss Lewis (S5) wil be available on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th August.
4 students from Mearns Castle Played for Scotland in the Under 19 World Lacrosse Championships held in Turku Finland in July.
Matt Hill, Iain Dunlop, Johny Shaw and Josh Gray all took part in the Championships which started on the 12th July and continued until the final on the 21st July.
Scotland beat Korea, Netherlands (twice) and won one and lost one against Wales.

The results of this year’s SQA examination will be sent to candidates on Tuesday 7th August. Pupils who have signed up for MySQA will receive their results by text or eMail.
