Amazing Art

Please enjoy looking at our amazing artwork.  We are developing our skills in colour and tone to present our artwork.

We used the Little White House of Glencoe as a stimulus.

The skills we used included blending and we are getting better at drawing.  Siona I used oil pastels to make a scottish landscape.  I mixed colours together and also different shades of colour.  I put white lines and rubbed them out using my finger until it disappeared to make it lighter.  Using black, I shaded everything I needed black then dragged it to make it darker.  Joe
We learned how to shade and blend and how to write an imaginative story about the House of Glencoe.  Thalia

We were learning to blend, shade and got better at drawing.  Plus we we learned how to write an imaginative story using the same setting.  Looking at our drawing we already imagined us in that old glowing white house.  Sarah S

Beautiful Butterfly

When we returned school in Primary 5 we had some visitors – caterpillars!

It was sad setting them free but good because they were not

kept in the butterfly pavillion.  OliIt was really fun holding the butterfly, they were so soft! DaisyI felt a bit emotional sending them away because I liked holding

them but they flew away.  Millie

I thought the butterfly was bleeding but it was just extra dye from the painted lady wings.  Oli

It was brilliant being able to see the lifecycle of a butterfly.

It was interesting how the patterns were made and they hatched from their cocoons,  how the colours came down and they were different.  We were able to hold them which was amazing!James

Stem Visit

Arlo – We were challenged to make the tallest tower with spaghetti and marshmallows. It was hard.

Sarah S – The marshmallow had to be at the very top of our tower. It was interesting to find out what it would do.

Daisy – It was very tricky because it was hard to balance the spaghetti and put the heavy marshmallow on top.

Olivia – It was very hard but my group managed to do it. When we got it standing it sometimes fell but then we got it to stand by itself again.

Millie – My group and I worked together to make our building of spaghetti and marshmallows. We managed to get it to stand by itself eventually.

Vikingar

Jamie – I was dressed up as a Viking farmer.

Sophia – It was very fun and I was a Viking farmer’s wife. I married Jamie.

Sophia – To get married, you had to hold an oath ring and you would only be married for a year and a day. Then you get married a second time and you are married for life.

Blair – I dressed up as a woodsmith. We used wood to make Viking longships and longhouses.

Sienna – It was fun dressing up!

Oli – I dressed up as a trader’s wife. Traders are very rich! It was really fun and we got to learn new things about Vikings.

Finlay – To get divorced, we had to say “I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you”. It was fun!

Capital letters and Full Stops

Our grammar lesson was a little different today. We went on a tour of the class for our grammar questions today. Mrs Martin put out 28 questions around the room. She challenged us to correct as many sentences as we could, putting in capital letters and full stops.

Cara- It was fun!

Blair – It was fantastic!

Jessica – It was really fun because it was different.
