Woodwork Animal Homes

As part of our Caring for the Environment topic the children had the opportunity to build a home for their chosen animal out of wood.  Before beginning their building task, the children discussed possible design criteria with Karen and were encouraged to draw out a plan of their animal home. Thank you to Aviyah’s Mum Lilach for coming in to help us build.

The children enjoyed using a variety of tools  and were thinking  creatively and independently while carrying out tasks.  They were able to assess risks in using the tools and carry out hammering and sawing tasks safely with support from an adult. When facing  new challenges or problems during their building tasks they were able to suggest  possible solutions.
