The P7 Leaving Dance is on
Tuesday 24th June from 7pm until 9:30pm.
The excitement is building by the day! If you would like to join us for the last moments of the dance and to see us finish with Auld Lang Syne, we will open the doors to the main entrance for you at 9:30pm.
Some P7 parents have kindly offered to make some decorations for the dance and to this end they would like to ask that each pupil brings into school two photographs. These should be close up photos sized 3″ square, one from when they were in P1 and one from P7. Pupils do not need to be in uniform in the photographs, and they should be brought to school as soon as possible in a named envelope. The photographs will form part of a decoration which each child will receive after the dance.
The P7 Graduation Ceremony is on
Tuesday 24th June.
The ceremony will start at 9:45am. Due to health and safety restrictions I am afraid that we only have room for two members of each pupil’s family to join us.
Tuesday 17th June 2014– Race Day
We are holding a traditional ‘races’ Sports Day. This will be held on the banking area. Each year group will be involved in a flat race and then, time allowing, one novelty race of their choice e.g. Egg and Spoon or Wheelbarrow. Every 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner will receive House Points which will go towards the Kirkhill House Trophy, awarded to the winning house at the end of the session in June.
Parents watch out- there will even be a Parents’ Race so please wear your trainers!!!
Thursday 19th June 2014 – Activity Stations
The Activity Stations will allow all children to participate in a variety of mini sporting activities such as Hockey, Basketball, Javelin and a Tug-of-War! These events will be held within the MUGA and P6/7 Playground Areas. The children will be split into House Teams and the winning house will receive a medal and all points gained on this day will again be added on towards the totals for the Kirkhill House Trophy. As the children are taking part in ‘House’ teams we would appreciate it if your child could wear an item of clothing in their house colour on both Sports Days. For example, a child in Arran may wear a yellow t-shirt OR yellow shorts OR a yellow cap, hairband OR even all three!
Timings for both the Race Day and Activity Stations are as follows:
P1 – 3: 10.00 a.m. – 12.15 p.m.
P4 – 7: 1.00 p.m. – 2.45 p.m.
To accommodate the Sports Days the timings for the school day must be altered a little. Lunch for the P4 – P7 will be at 11.40 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. P1 – 3 lunches will remain at the same time. The crossing patrol will be notified of the timings changes for these two days.
If there is torrential rain on either day, unfortunately the event may have to be cancelled.
Primary 5 will be performing their summer show ‘Archie Dobson’s War’ on
Wednesday 11th June at 10 am and 7pm.
Tickets have been issued to parents/carers of primary 5 pupils. We hope you enjoy the show!
Kirkhill will be hosting a ‘Musical Extravaganza’ for invited parents on Friday 20th June. Our music specialists Mr Blackwood – brass, Mrs Miller- guitars, Mr Robinson – violins, and Miss Harvey, have been working with children to prepare some items for us all to enjoy and to showcase their progress this session. Due to other commitments at this very busy time of the school session, Mr Robinson will be unable to lead his violin group. However, Mr Watson our school Music Instructor has kindly offered his services and will lead the violin group on the day. We will also have some very talented Kirkhill pupils from various stages of the school performing.
The performance will begin at 10.00am with refreshments beforehand from 9.30am. Unfortunately, due to the very busy nature of the school between 9am and 9.30am, we will be unable to allow entry to the school or the school hall prior to 9.30am.
Over the last few years these performances have been a great success and we are looking forward to another opportunity for Kirkhill pupils to share their talents.
If you currently have a Disclosure or a PVG for the purposes of helping within Kirkhill Primary School, and your child is leaving the school to move to secondary education (and you have no other children still at Kirkhill), there is a requirement for you to notify the Central Registered Body in Scotland (CRBS) to advise them that you will no longer be helping at the school.
Advising CRBS of this change of circumstances is the individual’s responsibility. Disclosure Scotland will then contact the school to confirm this change for the purposes of their records.
The address for CRBS is:
