{"id":3041,"date":"2013-10-22T10:13:45","date_gmt":"2013-10-22T09:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/IsobelMair\/?p=3041"},"modified":"2013-10-22T10:15:23","modified_gmt":"2013-10-22T09:15:23","slug":"parentcarer-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/IsobelMair\/2013\/10\/22\/parentcarer-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent\/Carer Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Reminder about the forthcoming parent\/carer group of children with additional support needs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dear Parent\/Carer<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Group for parents and carers of children with additional needs<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We are running a group work programme for parents and carers of children &amp; young people who have additional support needs.\u00a0 The focus of the group will be varied and we plan to cover issues such as grief and loss reactions to disability, handling behaviour strategies, person centred planning, building self esteem, recognising gifts and capacities and benefit entitlement. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The group will be run by three social workers from the Integrated Schools Team, Roberta Margison, Lynn Devine and Lucy Rutherford. \u00a0The aim of the group is to inform and empower parents and carers for the benefit of themselves and the children they look after. There will be short talks from a Welfare Rights Officer, Educational Psychologist, Enable and East Renfrewshire Carers Centre to help people make the most of services offered in their local communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The groups will run over six concurrent weeks, <strong>a day group starting on<\/strong> <strong>Monday 28<sup>th<\/sup> October 2013 between 10 and 12:30am <\/strong>and <strong>an evening group starting on Thursday 24<sup>th<\/sup> of October 2013 between 6 and 8:30pm<\/strong>.
