{"id":114,"date":"2012-02-01T13:52:11","date_gmt":"2012-02-01T13:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/InstrumentalMusicService\/primary-music\/"},"modified":"2018-03-19T13:28:23","modified_gmt":"2018-03-19T13:28:23","slug":"primary-music","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/InstrumentalMusicService\/primary-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Primary Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please follow East Renfrewshire&#8217;s Music Service on twitter\u00a0 @ERMusictalk for up dates and latest information<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary Music<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The aim of our primary music programme is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>give all children a thorough grounding in basic musicianship skills, including reading music, performing and writing rhythms and accurately reading and performing pitched sounds.<\/li>\n<li>make music lessons fun and accessible to all children.<\/li>\n<li>encourage all children to achieve their musical potential and strive to reach their highest standards of performance.<\/li>\n<li>grow excellent all-round musicians by the end of Primary 7.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All musicianship skills taught in our Primary Music Courses are based on\u00a0Kodaly&#8217;s method\u00a0of teaching music using hand signs and rhythm names.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Creative Scotland is\u00a0actively involved in supporting music for young people in Scotland\u00a0through its Youth Music Initiative (YMI).
