{"id":269,"date":"2013-11-14T13:00:14","date_gmt":"2013-11-14T12:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/HealthandWellbeingWebsite\/physical-wellbeing\/"},"modified":"2019-03-27T17:20:05","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T16:20:05","slug":"physical-wellbeing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/HealthandWellbeingWebsite\/physical-wellbeing\/","title":{"rendered":"Physical Wellbeing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Physical Wellbeing<\/em> relates to the ability to understand what can make our body most efficient and effective, as well as\u00a0the ability to recognise and\u00a0respect our own limitations.<\/p>\n<p>At St Ninian&#8217;s High school we aim to encourage and promote good physical wellbeing.\u00a0 Some examples are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>S1 \u2013S4 pupils receive at least 2 hours of physical activity each week both indoors and outdoors<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/StNinians\/co-curricular\/\">There are over 80 extracurricular clubs<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Twilight Sports Clubs<\/li>\n<li>Healthy Eating and Body Image are topics which are explored through PSHE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Body Image<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We live in a society that can be preoccupied by Body Image.\u00a0 The following presentaion was put together with the\u00a0aim to help\u00a0pupils and parents\u00a0understand more about this issue and to help build resistance against these pressures and promote a healthy image. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/HealthandWellbeingWebsite\/uploads\/sites\/7915\/2013\/11\/Presentation-Body-Image.pdf\">Presentation Body Image<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Nutrition<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Good nutrition is the foundation of good physical and mental well being. This presentation was prepared by Becca Miller from <em>BeNutrition<\/em> who attended our Health Evening offering guidance on the simple changes that are needed to bring the body back into balance, increasing energy and overall health. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/HealthandWellbeingWebsite\/uploads\/sites\/7915\/2013\/11\/Eat-Right.pdf\">Eat Right<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eat Better Feel Better is a campaign which was launched by the Scottish Government.\u00a0 This campaign aims to inspire and support parents and families to make healthy changes to how they shop, cook and eat, with the aim of improving their health. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatbetterfeelbetter.co.uk\/\">www.eatbetterfeelbetter.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">School Meals<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our school canteen has a variety of different options for pupils to choose from and the menu follows a 3 week cycle.
