The children have been very interested to find out more about spiders in the last few weeks. Here are a few photographs to show you what we have been doing.<\/span><\/p>\n

We were developing our observation skills as we enjoyed using magnifying glasses to go on a spider hunt in the nursery garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t see any spiders in the tyre.\u201d\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLook.\u00a0 I can see some flies on the web.\u00a0 Oh no. I think the spider will eat them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are lots of webs under here.\u201d\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

We gently shook some branches over a tumble sheet to see if we could find any spiders in the bushes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe spider is running away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We looked at some reference books and photographs to research about spiders and their webs.\u00a0 We learned that most spiders have 8 eyes and some make a new web every day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We also used the internet and discovered that some spiders don\u2019t build webs but climb inside pitcher plants to catch their prey.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe spider\u2019s climbing in.\u00a0 It\u2019s going to catch the bug.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

We continued to develop our fine motor skills as we decided to draw spiders and webs and make spider models.<\/span><\/p>\n
