Covid 19- January 2022

Guidance issued to early learning and childcare settings just prior to the Christmas break outlines the following to minimise risk. The necessary changes have been put into place throughout Glenwood from January 5th 2022.

  • A return to 2m physical distancing between adults (this had reduced to 1m)
  • Staff members should work with the same groups wherever possible. As we operate in 3 groups (the willow, meadow and orchard) we are able to continue with our current practice without impacting on children’s experiences. We will however reduce any informal mixing which may take place such as children visiting other rooms and mixing in the gym hall to reduce contact outwith groupings.
  • Where staff cover is required across rooms, this should be for limited periods, with appropriate risk mitigation measures adopted and staff should ensure strict hygiene practices are carried out
  • While children can still mix outdoors, we have made the decision to minimise mixing outdoors to reduce the risk for staff and children mixing beyond their grouping and have reintroduced defined areas for each room
  • Virtual meetings should be the norm unless it is in the best interest of the child or parent/ carer to meet in person
  • Staff are encouraged to be fully vaccinated and to carry out regular lateral flow tests
  • All previous controls remain in place including face coverings being worn by adults wherever they cannot maintain a 2m distance from other adults and within corridors and social areas, practice of good hand hygiene, ventilating of each room and socially distancing from other adults including parents
