Demonstrate these safely and effectively across a range of challenging contexts<\/li>\n<li>Analyse mental, emotional, social and physical factors that impact on performance<\/li>\n<li>Understand how skills, techniques and strategies combine to produce an effective performance<\/li>\n<li>Analyse and evaluate performance to enhance personal effectiveness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experiences that the pupils will encounter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils will be able to develop and demonstrate a broad and comprehensive range of complex skills in challenging contexts. Learners will also develop the ability to use strategies to make appropriate decisions for effective performance. In addition to this they will analyse performance, looking specifically at the impact of mental, emotional, social and physical factors and how to develop any weaknesses identified.<\/p>\n<p>By actively participating in physical activities, learners will demonstrate initiative, decision-making and problem-solving. They will experience a range of roles and responsibilities that will enable them to develop their interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills that the pupils need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Entry onto the Higher course in S5 will be subject to the pupil having demonstrated <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">a comfortable pass<\/span><\/strong> in the internal <strong>Factors Impacting Performance unit and Portfolio at National 5. <\/strong>Pupils are also required to have a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">sound pass<\/span><\/strong> at <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National 5 English<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Career Options:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Physical Education Teaching\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sports Coaching\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sports Management<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sports Leadership\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sports Development \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Uniformed Services<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sports Science\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Health and Fitness\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Elite Performers<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sports Psychology\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Physiotherapy<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>UCAS points gained through all National awards can be used to help secure a place on a huge variety of college and university courses. Some courses may have specific subject requirements and should therefore be checked prior to making your option choices.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Assessments<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical Education Performance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The candidates will develop their ability to plan, prepare for, effectively perform and evaluate personal performance in one physical activity. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">At Higher<\/span> this performance will constitute 60% of the total mark.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final SQA exam in May\/June of S5:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This final exam will assess the pupil\u2019s ability to integrate and apply knowledge, understanding and skills from across the units.
