Bikeability

Bikeability Scotland, the modern form of cycling proficiency, is a national scheme designed for delivery within the school setting.  It compromises 3 main levels aimed at supporting the next generation of confident and responsible cyclists.

Level 1

Level 1 training is delivered in Primary 5, in the playground.  The training includes;

  • Carrying out a simple bike safety check
  • Getting started- basic bike control skills
  • Use of brakes and gears

Level 2

Level 2 training is delivered in Primary 6. This takes place both in the playground and on quieter roads near the school.  The training includes;

  • Starting and finishing an on road journey
  • Understanding how and when to signal their intentions to other road users
  • Understanding where to ride on the roads they are using
  • Demonstrating good observation at all times

In Eaglesham Primary School, Bikeability Level 2 training is deliver with support from the Roads Department and parent/ carer volunteers.

1st June – P7.1 and P7.2 (bring bike, wear outdoor PE kit and weather appropriate outerwear)

7th June – P7.1 (bring bike, wear outdoor PE kit and weather appropriate outerwear)

9th June – P7.2 (bring bike, wear outdoor PE kit and weather appropriate outerwear)

14th June – P7.1 (bring bike, wear outdoor PE kit and weather appropriate outerwear)

16th June – P7.2 (bring bike, wear outdoor PE kit and weather appropriate outerwear)
