Fun Day

On Monday 25th June, the Parent Council have hired some inflatables  (bouncy castle, slide and assault course) for the day.  Each class will come out (weather permitting) and have time to go on these.  The cost of this will be £1.50 which includes a drink of juice & packet of crisps and the money is to be brought to school on the day.

Thank you for your continued support this school year and we hope you have a nice summer.

Jubilee Art Exhibition

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the children have been working very hard to produce some fantastic art work. Each stage has had the opportunity to explore an extended range of media such as drawing, painting, sketching, modelling and printing.

Parents are welcome to visit the Exhibition and marvel at our artwork celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee! Please come and join us between 2pm – 6pm on the 14th June 2012.

Sports Day!

Sports day this year will be held on Monday 11th June 2012.  Pupils should come to school dressed in joggers, polo shirts and trainers (bring dark shorts just in case).  A lightweight jacket may be required. They should also bring their water bottle with them, as they will be working hard!

The day will consist of fun activities and races.  The programme for the day is as follows:

  •  Lower School Sports skills (includes obstacle race; target throw; shuttle runs; standing long jump; tennis throw and circle ball)
  • Upper school sports (includes beat the goalie; standing long jump; rugby runs; hockey hustle; javelin throw; chest pass circleball; basketball bounce and skipping)

We look forward to seeing you on the day if you are available to attend (parents are welcome to come and see either the morning or afternoon session – or both!) and fingers crossed for sunshine!

If weather is inclement, this date may be changed – look out for notes in school bags!

ASN and Disability Parents’ Conference, Saturday 26th May 2012

Unfortunately the numbers of parents signing up for this event were not sufficient to make the event viable therefore we have had to cancel. Please can you communicate this to your parents in case there were some who might have come along on the day. We will contact those who did register interest with us directly. Thank you for all your assistance with this.

LEPRA Workout!

LEPRA Health in Action is a medical development charity with a long history of restoring health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy and other diseases of poverty. They work to treat, educate and support people in some of the world’s most deprived communities.

They are currently focussing their efforts on India, Bangladesh and Guatemala where their local teams work closely with the most disadvantaged people.

Eaglesham Primary School and Nursery Class would like to support LEPRA by participating in a Fun Workout Day on Friday 18th May.  All children will take part in a session led by a qualified Fitness Instructor.  All donations should be brought to school on Friday 18th May in the envelope provided so that they can be given to the LEPRA representatives.

Election Day

Eaglesham Primary School is to be used for the Scottish Parliamentary Elections to be held on Thursday 3rd May 2012 and will therefore be closed on that day.

P3 pupils – Please note that, due to the school being closed for the election day on 3rd May, the dates for the P3 Science Club block have been changed – the club will now start on Thursday 10th May and finish on Thursday 14th June (31st May is a holiday) .

P6 pupils – As the school will be closed on Thursday 3rd May due to the local elections, the children who are due to bring their bikes to school that day (Groups 1 and 2) should bring them on Tuesday 1st May instead to ensure that all groups have the same number of on-road, playground and theory lessons.

Eco Week!

Eco week starts 26th March. A whole school litter pick will be taking place all week with an emphasis not only on tidying up school but a whole community litter awareness!

On Tuesday, a representative from Toyota is coming to the school with 4 hybrid cars to show the children a more sustainable future within car manufacturing. This will be an exciting opportunity for the children to see how these cars work and hear about eco initiatives in  business.

Tuesday will also see Iona coming to help the children design their eco costumes for the Eco Fashion Show on Friday and to sell her eco crafts at lunchtime.

Friday is Eco Day! The children are dressing ‘green’ and there will be a Fashion Show to show off the outfits that children have designed in class.

What an exciting week! Photos will be posted up soon!
