In primary 2 this week we have been practising our tally marks. We played a game where we were shown lots pictures of pets and we had to quickly write a tally mark and at the end we had to add them all up. We can now group tally marks in groups of 5.
In maths Cameron and Emily were learning to make numbers using hundreds tens and units. “We had cards showing us a number and we had to make them. Once we were finished we made a model using the hundreds, tens and units.”
In topic this week the frogs have been learning to name the parts of a plant. We can also tell people what the different parts are used for. For example, the roots are for sucking water and nutrients from the ground and helping the plant grow. We learned all about plants by going to different stations, we played a game where we had to draw a plant, we had to stick on the names of the parts of the plants, we had an investigation station where we looked at the different parts of the plant under a magnifying glass and we had to research using books about plants.
What can you do now that you couldn’t before…
