Primary 6 released their brown trout into the River Levern during science week.Caroline from the Clyde River Foundation was very impressed with how well they had managed to control the water temperature in the tank over the past four weeks and the speed at which their fish had developed.
The nursery was full of excited children and staff for the whole day today as 5 of their eggs hatched overnight. Children were able to watch as two more hatched over the course of the day. The baby chicks are all doing well and are so cute. Pictures to follow when all eggs have hatched.
Primary 6 and the Silver Room are taking part in a project to raise brown trout in the classroom. When they returned after the holiday weekend they were surprised to see that some of the brown trout eggs have hatched already. We will post some pictures on the website soon and keep you updated on the progress of our fish.
The Science Club run by Mrs McLean after school on a Tuesday has been a great success. Children have had great fun learning to be detectives to solve mysteries. They have been developing their observation and problem solving skills and developing their ability to work as a team. Science club is now finished for this term.
