Children can wear tartan to school on this day if parents wish them to do so, this might be a small tartan accessory such as a ribbon or an item of tartan clothing, please do not buy anything new just for this day. It is not a dress as you please day.
The school meals service have a special Burns Day menu. Soup of the day will be Scotch Broth. The normal weekly options will still be available but hot choice 1 (sausages) will be replaced by a haggis stack (haggis, mashed turnip and potatoes), dessert will be Scottish shortbread and raspberries.
We will have a whole school assembly on the 25th. The focus will be on songs and poems of Scotland. Each class will recite a poem or sing a song.
Our new Eco Team revealed the new Eco Code to the whole school at our September assembly and announced the winners of the Eco Mascot Shared Family Learning Challenge. The ideas that families had were great. The eco team will spend next week creating the new mascot Carlibug, using ideas from a number of different mascot entries. Watch out for more Eco news coming soon.
Primary 4 performed a short play at assembly today based on the importance of telling the truth.
Our Primary 7 House and Vice Captains for Levern, Craigie , Fereneze and Kelburn received their badges.
Class voting is being completed for our Eco reps and Pupil Council members.
Primary 7 children are selling poppies in school this week. they will be in the playground just before 3pm for any adults wishing to purchase a poppy. Primary 7 will be leading a Remembrance Assembly next week on Tuesday 11th November at 2.15pm. All primary 7 parents are warmly invited to this event. Please come to the main office at 2.10pm and you will be shown into the dining room to wait for the children to show you to your seats in the assembly hall.
We were joined by Major Sharon from the Salvation Army, Barrhead and many parents as we celebrated harvest at our assembly on Thursday 11th October. Congratulations to Primaries 2 and 6 for their fantastic presentations. Our thanks go to all of the families who generously supported Primary 6 ‘s collection of tins and packets for the Salvation Army.
