During this morning’s session, whilst the Nursery children were playing outside , a small fire started due to a malfunction in one of the heaters.\u00a0 All the children from the Nursery and School were evacuated and the fire brigade arrived promptly .\u00a0 Only after the\u00a0Fire Commander had\u00a0 checked the whole school thoroughly, were the children and staff permitted back in. The Fire Commander\u00a0praised the\u00a0staff and pupils\u00a0for following the effective\u00a0emergency procedures in place at the school\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Due to the fire,\u00a0both Nursery rooms have been closed\u00a0 but\u00a0our Pre-5 service will continue to operate\u00a0from the Gym Hall.\u00a0 Parents should bring their children to the dining hall entrance\u00a0of the school, which is located in the upper playground, next to the main hall where a member of staff will welcome you.\u00a0\u00a0 At the end of the session, parents\u00a0should collect their children from the ICT room. This system will continue until the\u00a0room\u00a0has been re-decorated, which should be before the end of the week.<\/p>\n
As a result of the very unpleasant smoke smell\u00a0in the Nursery and back corridor,\u00a0the Primary 2 and Primary 4 classrooms were unable to be used in the afternoon but will be back to normal\u00a0on Monday.<\/p>\n
Lunchtime and after-school clubs will be cancelled next week.<\/p>\n
Please be assurred that procedures have been put in place to ensure the smooth running of the Nursery and School during this time. However, we hope you appreciate that there may be further changes.<\/p>\n
The School Christmas Fayre will go ahead as planned tomorrow at 2.00pm.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing you.<\/p>\n
