Over the past few weeks in Science we have been looking at the differences between living and non-living things.
Today, our success criteria was to sort living things into groups and explain our reasoning.
We made posters in groups to sort living things into: amphibians, fish, birds, mammals and reptiles. We then swapped our posters with another group to peer assess.
Reptiles
Alice – “Reptiles have 4 legs or no legs!”
Uzair – “They have scales not fur.”
Amphibians
Umair – “They lay eggs.”
Jack – “Smooth skin!”
Katherine – “They live on land and water.”
Fish
Luc – “Fish are cold-blooded creatures and have gills not lungs to breathe.”
Kieran – “Scales too!”
Isher – “They’re cold-blooded.”
Aidan – “They usually lay eggs but can have babies too.”
Mammals
Saman – “Dogs, cats and me – we’re mammals!”
Shazil – “Mammals feed their babies milk.”
Yasmin – “Mammals are warm-blooded and need air to breathe.”
Birds
Rayyan – “Birds can fly – I wish I could fly too.”
Zoha – “Birds have feather not fur.”
Rydha – “They have ear holes instead of ears to listen.”
We think we have learned lots already about living and non-living things – what do you think?!
