Schools Fitness Week

This week we have been very active in class.  We participated in The Body Coach’s Schools Fitness Week.  Everyday at 10am we got changed into our PE kits and did a HIIT workout.  It was good fun but some of our legs are a little bit sore! On Friday, we finally got a shout-out after four days of leaving comments for him!

P6b Bakeoff

Today we baked Fairtrade muffins in class. In our groups we made hot chocolate muffins, chocolate chip muffins, Malteser muffins and button muffins.

We developed our communication and  team work skills and our instruction following.

They tasted scrumptious!

Woks at the ready!
             We got our wok on!

As mentioned in a previous post and to celebrate the end of Chinese New Year we cooked a feast today!

                                                                            Hard at work!

On the menu today was sweet and sour stir fry Quorn ‘chicken’ with soy and ginger noodles and Chinese BBQ Quorn ‘chicken’ with egg-fried rice and vegetables. Of course there were prawn crackers to dip in too!

The aromas coming from our classroom were just delicious and we couldn’t wait to have a try before lunch!

Waitrose Bound!

Meeting Wendy at the front entrance.

To develop our knowledge further on local produce and sustainability – Mrs Andrews organised a trip for us to Waitrose in the Newton Mearns. We were all so excited to go onto the bus and couldn’t wait to get there!

First we went to the fresh produce aisle and tasted kiwi berries which were very sour! Only some of us liked them but we all had a go.

Have you heard of a kiwi berry? We hadn't!

Some of the meat came from Ayrshire. Very local!

We looked at the ‘traffic light’ system as a way of checking the nutritional value of the foods we eat. The Butternut Squash Curry had all green!

Bet our Mac 'n' Cheese was better than this one!
