This week we have been very active in class. We participated in The Body Coach’s Schools Fitness Week. Everyday at 10am we got changed into our PE kits and did a HIIT workout. It was good fun but some of our legs are a little bit sore! On Friday, we finally got a shout-out after four days of leaving comments for him!

Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom!
As mentioned in a previous post and to celebrate the end of Chinese New Year we cooked a feast today!
On the menu today was sweet and sour stir fry Quorn ‘chicken’ with soy and ginger noodles and Chinese BBQ Quorn ‘chicken’ with egg-fried rice and vegetables. Of course there were prawn crackers to dip in too!
The aromas coming from our classroom were just delicious and we couldn’t wait to have a try before lunch!
Once we finished the sweet and sour dish it was time to cook the BBQ one with the next group. Take a look… Here’s one of our finished dishes –
Healthy Smoothies
Thank you to Yasmin and Rydha’s Gran’s who came to help us in class this afternoon. A special thank you also to Miss Paterson who helped us write-up our recipe cards at the board afterwards!
We made some nutritionally balanced fruit and vegetable smoothies. They seemed to go down a treat judging by Luc’s response – “That is theeee best smoothie evvvver!”.
Of the 5 food groups we tried to get 3 of the groups into our smoothies.
We made: Strawberry, Banana and Blueberry, Tropical and Pear, Apple and Spinach!
Waitrose Bound!
To develop our knowledge further on local produce and sustainability – Mrs Andrews organised a trip for us to Waitrose in the Newton Mearns. We were all so excited to go onto the bus and couldn’t wait to get there!
First we went to the fresh produce aisle and tasted kiwi berries which were very sour! Only some of us liked them but we all had a go.
We looked at the ‘traffic light’ system as a way of checking the nutritional value of the foods we eat. The Butternut Squash Curry had all green!
Thank you Wendy at Waitrose – we had such a fun time learning new things!
